Unfortunately, the desire and ambition to join America’s military does not have the same honorable status as the position did years ago. However, there are a few men and women who faithfully stand with integrity with the desire to fight and defend the United States of America and the way of life she stands for. As the men and women protect and defend the Constitutional rights and American citizens from danger, family members stay at home. Even if a soldier is not deployed, family members must serve the country as well by supporting through financial, emotional and physical support.

An established law in the United States exempts all deployed soldiers and his or her spouse from paying federal taxes. However, any man or woman who joins the United States military, joins with the understanding that he or she may have to give his or her life for the United States. This willingness should exempt the soldier and his or her spouse from the financial burden of paying taxes.

Soldiers do not receive a high salary, and many spouses must work an extra job to make ends meet - or they will be forced to live in sub-standard housing (a good friend of mine and his wife lived in used campervans while he served in the forces). Federal taxes Alleviating this responsibility will free the soldier to properly provide for his or her family while serving the United States. A release of this financial burden may also allow the soldier’s spouse relief to spend time with the busy soldier when he or she has the chance. Working for the United States Military require long hours and a high commitment. When a spouse works, some couples may never see each other.

To ensure that men and women do not join just to skip tax paying, a system can be set in order to avoid this happenstance. The soldier must serve a certain amount of years before the tax alleviation takes place. This will test the person’s commitment to the United States military. A requirement like that will help weed out lazy candidates who only serve to receive the additional perks. With this insurance, men and woman who desire to serve and protect the United States of America have that opportunity, and also have the freedom the family needs to happily serve the country for as many years as possible.

Pregnancy is a wonderful and exciting experience. The situation may arise where it becomes necessary to find out the baby’s paternity prior to them being born. Where this is the case prenatal Paternity Testing can be done. This test has to be done by a well trained doctor. There is currently no home testing that is available for prenatal testing.

It is very important that a doctor is involved throughout the process because there are a number of factors that influences the foetuses health. So even though it may be important to the mother to determine paternity, the doctor will always consider the health of the child first. Also a prenatal paternity test is usually moderately invasive for both child and mother and involves DNA being taken. For the DNA to be taken, cells of the foetus will have to be disturbed. The procedure will not harm the child normally.

Before a prenatal paternity test is done your doctor will have to determine how advanced the pregnancy is. Once this is done, he will then decide on which type of prenatal paternity test is to be done and any possible complication that may arise from the procedure. If there is any sign of trouble the test will be postponed until after the child is born.

The sample for the test is usually taken using one of two extraction procedures. One method is the chorionic villi sampling which is normally done somewhere around the tenth to the thirteenth week of pregnancy. Going through the abdomen or the vagina, a sample of the placenta is obtained. The placenta is made up of a material containing the exact DNA as that of the egg cell. The other is performing an amniocentesis around the fourteenth and twenty-fourth week. Here a needle is inserted into the sac where the baby is growing and a bit of fluid is taken.

There is enough food in the world to feed everyone, twice! However the majority of the world lives in starvation and poverty. This is one of the biggest continuing problems with the world. The rich in the West have more than ample amounts of everything from food, to clothes, to commodities, however they lack in one key thing, compassion.
I have worked for five years in the catering and hospitality industry and in this time I have seen the disgusting behavior of the UK’s elite. It does not matter how much they waste or how much it costs or who it will hurt, they get what they want, no matter what. Unfortunately this attitude does not stop with the U.K elite but spreads right across the globe. Therefore leading to those who do not fit in to this elite to suffer.
In the U.K the suffering is not on the kind of scale that you can see in other areas of the world. However if our politicians and our elite cared more about those suffering on their own doorstep, maybe they might begin to care about those across the globe.
Why is it that the homeless and those that live in poverty are looked after less than those who live affluent lives? Why is it so difficult for those who live privileged lives to care those less fortunate. There are so many laws preventing people from helping others, for example food that is more than two hours old and not kept in the proper storage units has to be thrown away. This prevents any major catering firm from donating food to charities. The food waste I daily witness could feed up to thirty people, however because of the constant fear of being sued or taken to court no company will dispute the law.
Unfortunately this is the case everywhere, people are too frightened of the consequences if they break the law and help others. However when it comes down to it, what is more important someone else’s life or the law?

An ambitious program has been launched by Healthcare organization in Liverpool that lays importance on the information aspect in Healthcare. The program aims to use EMIS web systems for this program. The need to gather information and its importance in progressing and providing better Healthecare to the people has been realized and steps to gather this information has been started.

While gathering information in matters as private as health of an individual, the factor of confidentiality holds as much importance if not more than sharing of the information. Necessary steps that would safeguard an individual’s right to privacy were the first issue that the conference where this program was launched had in its agenda of discussion. Not only confidentiality, but even the factor of consent by the individual was discussed.

The program has been named as interoperability program and at present it covers thirteen primary health care centers. This number includes minor surgery cases being carried out in the city and even mobile chemo units too. The program provides community matrons and those working locum doctor jobs full access to their patients GP records. This has been of immense help as per the matron’s who can provide immediate life saving medical attention which is most suitable to the patient at that moment.

Now the program has taken one more step forward by linking up with acute care also. Staff at the hospital too would now be provided with access to the GP records of the patient. This would help not only in providing immediate information necessary for a staff to tend to a sudden arrival of seriousness but also obviate the requirement of conducting tests which may have already been carried out on the patient recently.

Irrespective of physical location of the patient requiring medical care the data pertaining to the particular individual would be available at the click of a button, which means a big difference not only between life and death but also between spending extra amount to saving up whilst getting better treatment.

Countries such as the USA and organisations such as the EU are the largest consumers of resources, the largest producers, have the highest rates of fuel usage (including oil, gas, and red diesel), and the main moneyspenders in the modern-day world. People in these countries and organisations often consume and need more than the whole population of Africa and Australia constantly increasing the world prices and thus forcing many small and developing communities to permanently decreasing their life standards.

Because of all these reasons stated above, we now can encounter what can be easily called “social parasitism”-a term often ignored because it seems a bit brutal in societies where people stand for human rights and civil liberties, but at the same a quite accurate expression since people all over the globe have the same labour power but the resources that reach them are quite limited to suffice.

Recently many organisations, most of the international legal partnerships and socialists formations, are trying to induce the idea that the main moneyspenders should accept new rules to govern their economies. Such an example is proposed by legal scholars who proclaim the idea of the so called external production. Even thou the globalisation significantly improved the financial situation in Asia, the markets in Africa keep shrinking. This is the reason why, by convincing big companies to start their own business in Africa, scholars and legal professionals are aiming to inject new capitals and fresh money in the African countries infrastructures.

This on the other hand might be negatively accepted by people who would occasionaly lose thgeir jobs in the country from which the production is to be relocated. However, social workers claim that specialists are needed so if these workers are good in their proffesion that can still satisfy the needs of their companies without the need to shrink the market in their own country. The production increased, the prices decreased would inevitably lead to new fresh capitals, more accessible goods and gradual increase of the life standard in the developing country.

Anyone who can think back to the Live Aid concerts in London and Philadelphia back in 1985 (well before I was born) will remember how the powerful use of imagery and video in these concerts helped raise a level of awareness which reached new heights in the western world.

As many of us in Britain take many of our luxuries for granted - having regular, clean water supplies, being able to buy good quality, affordable food in our supermarkets and having excellent access to good medical care, we forget that in other countries many of these luxuries remain just that - a luxury.

In Britain we think of expensive cars, being able to afford rhinoplasty, or holidays in 5 star hotels as being a ’luxury’. In a country like Chad or Sudan, a luxury is being able to find enough water deep in the desert to feed your family for just a day. It is the kind of existence that depends on life or death, whereas in Britain, we have a choice of earning a good living, or living off a minimum wage. In the world’s poorest countries there is simply no money or resources to accommodate their millions of people. In fact, the governments of these countries are more corrupt and shambolic than our country’s most violent criminals. One way to help these impoverished populations is through large charity projects and international campaigns.

Of course, this can help some people, but not others. This is because no matter how much we do to raise money or build hospitals in schools in countries like Sudan and Zimbabwe, we are virtually powerless so long as their government’s own most of the country’s wealth. This is a sad fact of reality and there is little that can be done until such leaders can make an effort to respect the democratic process. In the near future, this is looking unlikely.

The average weather experienced over a period of time is referred to as the climate. Studies have shown that the Earth’s climate has been changing slowly and steadily due to both natural causes and human activities. Global temperatures have risen by 0.74 degrees Celsius in the last 130 years and this has adversely affected a wide range of climate related factors. In the UK average temperatures have increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius since 1959 and the summers have become hotter and drier while the winters are mild and wet.

The UK is likely to continue to be affected by the impact of climate change. A northward shift in habitats and agricultural zones is likely and soil, water, wildlife; agriculture will all be affected in the south of England.

Although detailed studies are undertaken in the UK recently to see the impact of climate on different elements, a recent study indicates that UK is actually lagging behind its European neighbors in dealing with climate change. This study was done by an energy company in ten European countries and it analyzed the energy consumption and the attitude of the people to climate change.

Though London has emerged as being conscious about the environment, other people elsewhere are not as concerned. A poll conducted about climate change indicated that only one-fifth of people in UK feel that climate change is a severe problem

These studies and polls are intended to create more awareness in Britain regarding work that need to be done to address the issue of climate change. Although the study’s validity has been questioned, it would still help to bring to notice that UK still has some way to go before it can equal the amount of consciousness regarding the climate that is prevalent in other European countries. However when it comes to energy consumption Britain is doing better.

The conversation at the bar went something like this: there were three of us, me, my good friend and a guy I didn’t know (who knew my friend). The subject moved onto world policy: whether the credit-crunch had ever really existed, or whether the machinations of it were something that became real through the mutterings in bank queues, the talking that encircled the world in a daze of negative energy.

Then the guy I didn’t know said, “We don’t need to worry about Africa</place />, even if they never got any more money then they’d be fine, they could just keep running around in grass skirts”. This upset me immediately, although I didn’t say anything. At first I was struck at his audacity, then I was struck at the thought of Africa</place /> only being populated by beautiful black girls in grass skirts and, obviously, what that might look like. Then I was struck by a final, sickening thought, and the smile fell hard from my face: he wasn’t joking. And I shouldn’t be. He really did believe that those people were of irrelevance globally speaking–this disgusted me; he had spoken as though Africa</place /> were a planet disconnected to the rest of the world, as though it didn’t matter a bit if those people lived or died.

It got me thinking: really, how do you solve such a problem? Because to be honest this guy, although I fully disagreed with what he had said, did also have a point: by constantly giving a country money and watching some of it—depending on what and who you believe—go down the drain as it’s siphoned off by those with guns, you’re doing bad things. But by doing nothing at all the potential for good things is not even a possibility.

I suppose the point is this: us over here with our two cars on every drive and working water and jobs and stuff. And even if we do try to work with companies like Enigin PLC, we will never fully understand the people over there. But the answer is not in turning away. Even at the risk of that money going to the wrong means we have to try and help if possible. People are people, are they not? No matter where they are.

It is exactly one month since the devastating earthquake struck Haiti. There are no more survivors to be dug out but a huge relief effort remains in full force. Disasters such as the one in Haiti are a tragedy that makes the whole world weep but out of the destruction can rise new hope, a new humanity, just as the buildings of Port au Prince will one day soon rise again.

The world was becoming an increasingly insular place. With the recession biting hard in both the United States and Europe the overwhelming sentiment from many has been ’charity begins at home’. International charities have seen a steady fall in donations over the past three years and yet the needs of the developing nations have not gone away. I have heard many people, pre-Haiti, say ’why should I give to the third world when people in this country need help?’ To those people I try to reason that we are all one humanity and we should not let artificial borders act as a barrier to our compassion. I also try to teach these people that many of the problems experienced in the global South are the results of centuries of abuse from the capitalist culture of the ’First World’. Recently this has seemed like banging my head against a brick wall but the horror of Haiti seems to have awoken the nations from their compassion fatigue.

The dreadful scenes that have filled our media seem to have had a galvanising effect on the general conscience. Of course, the celebrities have been getting the media coverage, with pop concerts and charity singles making huge sums of money very quickly. This is worthy and even vital in its own way, but I am more impressed by the way that ordinary people, you and I, have taken action to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Internet forums and social networking sites are inundated with people organising small local events such as charity concerts, raffles and disco’s. Whilst each on their own may raise a relatively small amount when added together they will make a significant contribution. Charities such as Oxfam in the UK are banding together to raise money and the public have given with unprecedented generosity.

There is an old African saying that goes: ’drop by drop fills the bucket’. Well the compassion that is flowing drop by drop into Haiti may fill the global bucket with a rediscovered love and understanding: that to me is the flickering light amidst the dreadful storm, the hope that has come from the Haitian hell.

Which brings me to my next point, there is this company enigin PLC who helps big businesses to reduce the carbon footprint that they are currently leaving on the environment. Although I believe that this is a great thing to strive for, and that the world really does need more businesses like this, is it something that people should have to pay for?

The world is coming to an age where we cannot necessarily trust the politicians to make the right decisions for the greater population and we believe here are g6b Peoples Summit that it is time for the common people to take some action.

A fine example of this would be the shady underhand dealings by a group of countries made at the last g8 summit in order to deny a bill that would support energy conservation. A few short sighted people denied something that was fundamentally beneficial to all because it was not fiscally profitable to them!

This is the reason why we need to take charge. One of the ways in which we can do this is by supporting our industries that we have control over and our own lives. In Britain we use so much electricity that they reckon if everyone in the world were to follow suit it would take 3.8 planets to support our daily allotment. This is something that we CAN change, even if there is no enforcement in place. There is an amazing company that I have discovered called Enigin, who develop new technology and products to assist large corporations the world over in reducing their energy expenditure. If you hit the link you can read the developers blog, and look at all the new ideas they currently have in the pipeline!

Thanks for reading, and if you feel as passionately about this as we do then please come back and check for regular updates!
