An ambitious program has been launched by Healthcare organization in Liverpool that lays importance on the information aspect in Healthcare. The program aims to use EMIS web systems for this program. The need to gather information and its importance in progressing and providing better Healthecare to the people has been realized and steps to gather this information has been started.

While gathering information in matters as private as health of an individual, the factor of confidentiality holds as much importance if not more than sharing of the information. Necessary steps that would safeguard an individual’s right to privacy were the first issue that the conference where this program was launched had in its agenda of discussion. Not only confidentiality, but even the factor of consent by the individual was discussed.

The program has been named as interoperability program and at present it covers thirteen primary health care centers. This number includes minor surgery cases being carried out in the city and even mobile chemo units too. The program provides community matrons and those working locum doctor jobs full access to their patients GP records. This has been of immense help as per the matron’s who can provide immediate life saving medical attention which is most suitable to the patient at that moment.

Now the program has taken one more step forward by linking up with acute care also. Staff at the hospital too would now be provided with access to the GP records of the patient. This would help not only in providing immediate information necessary for a staff to tend to a sudden arrival of seriousness but also obviate the requirement of conducting tests which may have already been carried out on the patient recently.

Irrespective of physical location of the patient requiring medical care the data pertaining to the particular individual would be available at the click of a button, which means a big difference not only between life and death but also between spending extra amount to saving up whilst getting better treatment.
